✈️ Getting a U.S. Passport

Before traveling internationally, you must have a valid U.S. passport.

Key Tips:

  • Apply early (processing can take 6–10 weeks or longer)

  • Expedited service is available for an additional fee

  • Passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your travel date

 

👨‍👩‍👧 Traveling with Children

Children have specific requirements for international travel.

What you’ll need:

  • Each child must have their own passport  and visa (no exceptions)

  • Birth certificate (recommended to carry)

  • If one parent is not traveling:

    • Notarized consent letter  is required (talk to our team for assistance)

🛂 Ghana Visa Requirements

U.S. citizens are required to obtain a visa before entering Ghana.

General Requirements:

  • Valid passport

  • Completed visa application

  • Passport photos

  • Travel itinerary

  • Proof of accommodation

  • Yellow fever vaccination certificate (required)

Processing Time:

  • Typically 10–15 business days (expedited options available)

 

💉 Required Vaccinations

To enter Ghana, you must have proof of:

  • Yellow Fever vaccination (Talk to the ARK team for further assistance)

  • Malaria prevention prep

    • We highly recommend taking Neem prior to and during the trip​

    • Bring mosquito repellent (Sis Jen has an oil recipe that works!)

🏡 Residency & Staying Long-Term

If you plan to stay longer than your visa allows:

Options may include:

  • Visa extensions (applied within Ghana)

  • Residency permits

  • Right of Abode (for eligible individuals of African descent)
